A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
