Intensive Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles struck energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people injured in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and three other people were hurt.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the country's energy grid, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
